Amy Jo Swing One Year in a House

Today, two deer eyes lift,
eating apples on the front
lawn, leaping over car lights.

warmer than three August nights
when the pumpkins froze.

nuthatches to find the thistle feeder:
waiting for some kind of return.

Last year, in just five hours,
Asian Lady Beetles covering out
plywood siding, staying all winter.
